What am I waiting for? I didn’t think I was waiting, but naturally I wait. We all wait. Some are more patient about it and some are very bad at it. I’m somewhere in the middle.
I’m currently working on a film production for several weeks and believe me when I say that it was a long wait between paying gigs. Now I drive 33 miles to work on the west side of Los Angeles and in the morning it can take up to two hours sitting and waiting in traffic. I wait for commuters to move along. Sometimes I get aggressive and try to get around the slow lanes, and usually end up further behind for the effort. Better to be patient.
On set there is a lot of waiting… Waiting for shots to be set up, for lighting to be just right… There is lots of waiting in the entertainment business.
I have waited for concert tickets – because I really wanted to get good seats. When I was 16 I waited at the Co-Op to get gas during the Jimmy Carter Administration. (Yeah, I really am that old, get over it.)
I waited the entire second grade for my two front teeth to come in – it was brutal to talk funny and have the other kids mock my toothless mug.
I waited for my hair to grow back after it got over processed in a perm and was burnt and fell off – I looked like Rod Stewart with spiky hair for the longest time.
I have also waited for pets and people to get better. Sometimes they did, but when they didn’t, then I waited with them until they passed on.
I waited to hear I was loved. Was it worth it? Sure. Do I wish I didn’t have to wait for it? Sure. But I certainly don’t take it for granted now either.
I’m still waiting to win the California State lottery, or the Mega lottery. I play fairly frequently, too. You can’t win if you don’t play. $1.00 should do it… maybe. Still waiting for that theory to pan out.
I wait for an audience to read what I wrote.
Yes, it is true — I wait for you.
